Why Do People Hate Running & Other BS Larger Bodies Have Been Shamed Into Believing
‘WHY DO PEOPLE HATE RUNNING’.
IF YOU COULD SEE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO COME TO MY WEBSITE BECAUSE THEY GOOGLED THAT, YOUR EYES WOULD BUG OUT OF YOUR HEAD.
But it’s not even that so many people think they hate running. So many people think they hate being ACTIVE all together. Because for as long as we can remember, working out is the thing we had to suffer through in order to lose the weight we’ve been convinced we need to lose in order to be beautiful, worthy, ‘healthy’, etc.
I mean look at those bullshit comments Jillian Michaels made about Lizzo recently.
.@JillianMichaels on Lizzo: "Why are we celebrating her body? Why does it matter? Why aren't we celebrating her music? 'Cause it isn't gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes." pic.twitter.com/FkKBd8J87b

WANT TO KNOW WHO IS DANCING AND WORKING HER ASS OFF EVERY SINGLE DAY?
LIZZO.
WANT TO KNOW WHO IS MORE ACTIVE THAN ANY OF US?
LIZZO!
WATCH THAT WOMAN PERFORM! TALK ABOUT ATHLETICISM!
WE SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT HER BODY JILLIAN MICHAELS. SHE IS STRONG AS HELL.
(And that follow up of Michaels being all “This is me at 175 pounds. If I can do it, anyone can do it.” Yeah, fuck off. I just ran a marathon in 3 hours 37 minutes at 175 pounds and was the strongest and healthiest I think I’ve ever been in my life. STOP PERPETUATING THE NOTION THAT A BIGGER BODY IS AN UNHEALTHY ONE. YOUR WORDS ARE MAKING PEOPLE SICK. This is a prime example of someone influential dishing out some poison punch.)
The problem isn’t that people are too lazy or not athletic enough to be runners or enjoy being active. It’s that for so many of us, we weren’t athletic, we didn’t like playing sports growing up, OR, we were made to feel like we couldn’t participate because we weren’t ‘good enough’ whatever the fuck that means.
I LOVE THE SAYING ‘DON’T CALL THE INABILITY TO START LAZY. CALL IT FEAR.’, BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT IT IS.
It’s not that people are too lazy to put in the work and build endurance. Or that they’re quitters and can’t stick with running or working out. It’s that they’ve been made to feel that they aren’t invited to the party. OR that they’ll get judged because they don’t look the way they think they should. (Case in point, Queen of the poison punch Jillian Michael’s disgusting comments.)
The scripts we write about how people judge us can feel paralyzing. If you’re someone who struggles with what others think of your weight or your shape, focus on what you say to yourself. Every time you catch your reflection, say to yourself, “This is what strength looks like”. Then smile because you’re doing the damn thing!
Chase goals that excite you. Do it with your Badass Lady Gang. But don’t run or get active because you think you need to lose 20 pounds. Don’t run because you think you need to lose weight.
Fuck dieting. Fuck weight loss. Move and fuel your body well because it makes you feel good. Not because you hate yourself. 🤘Do that, and I guarantee everything will fall into place without you ever needing to obsess over a calorie.
But you can do anything. If you hate running, you can become a runner and love it. If you hate going to the gym, you can love it. Start with why you want to make whatever goal you're chasing a reality.
If your why is strong enough, that’s all that matters.
